About Me
I am a 16 year old student studying in Hong Kong.
Why Dental Care?
Recently I had to research the European refugee crisis as a topic in my German class. I found that a lot of NGOs and medical aid organisations have been providing medical care, food and shelter for refugees, yet there has hardly any contribution in dentistry. This sparked concern
and I felt that more needs to be provided in this field. Ultimately, this was what inspired me to start my "Running for Refugees" project.
Why Running?
I started running in Year 8 when I joined cross country at my school. Running has always been something I enjoy doing, although I have never been one of the fastest! I enjoy running because it is a very rewarding activity that tests my commitment and perseverance, but also relieves stress and is a great way to maintain a healthy lifestyle. It is physically challenging but also mentally challenging because you really have to push yourself to keep going until you reach the finish line. When I first started running it was a bit scary as I saw many intimidating, super fit runners and I felt like I wasn't good enough to do it. Although I still get nervous before a race, I think I have developed a lot as a runner and I think taking on the challenge of the San Francisco Marathon will make me aware of my limitations and help me conquer them.
